It started as white noise…

Crouched over my cell responding to emails, the sound of my daughters playing in the background, I hear my wife’s voice….I respond, “sorry babe, whats that?”.  “Check out this school” she says, “It’s called the green school, and teaches children the importance of…bla bla bla”, by this time I’ve shifted focus back to my emails…  “Sounds great babe” I reply, out of courtesy.  She adds, “And it’s in Bali!”  I chuckle, “yeah, let’s move to Bali, hahaha”….and it ended there.  

However, in the coming months (maybe years), it became sort of a running joke.  Anytime either of us were particularly stressed out we’d say “That’s it, we’re moving to Bali!” this provided us with a slight comic relief, but was always accompanied with the depressing realization that something this charmed certainly must be reserved for the more fortunate.

It wasn’t until recently, when I was at a career crossroad that I asked her…..”what’s the deal with that school in Bali again?”  So for fun we looked it up, It was ridiculously expensive, and so out of the question. But now the Idea had manifested from a joke, to the imagination of actually doing something like that.  We searched another school….very affordable, hmmm……how much would it cost to rent a place there?  ….and the domino’s started to fall.
